no borders

one of the best things about being in the EU, albeit scandinavia, is the absolute (almost) freedom of movement. so i complain about being put through third degree every time i skip the country but really it's no biggie. what's five minutes of furious interrogation compared to the lands flowing with milk and honey lying behind the immigration check point.

used to think the inherent wanderlust was gradually dissipating but it's back with a vengeance and having crossed the halfway mark in this self-imposed exile, i'm already starting to miss being on exchange, absurd as that may sound.

so far i've been to oslo, bergen, lisbon, porto, helsinki and london. up next there's paris, sardinia, st. moritz and zurich. am still semi-sore that it looks likes i'm headed home before i get to visit spain and vienna. but back to the EU being relatively borderless, i love that if i feel like chinese food and a reliable stylist, i can find both and more in london a short two hours later. lusting after pierre herme macarons and pain au chocolat? paris awaits. and, in recent developments, because i bemoaned the lack of italian food in stockholm (save M's zuccini pasta and J's carbonara i haven't found anything i like), we're going to sardinia for some hearty italian fare. glad i'm seeing someone who's a bigger foodie than i am. there's no messing with the man who brought me to naples for pizza. or to tsukiji for sashimi :)

i like how my cravings determine what's next on the destination hit-list. yay europe!
