a moroccan 23rd

more photos from krystal's party, courtesy of her sister tiffany.

wednesday was off to a good start. finished neil gaiman's the graveyard book (pilfered from my 10year old tuition kiddy. teehee!) then went to the family court for some do-good-ing. legal clinics aren't for the faint-hearted and i was horrified that one of the wives who came by had a band-aid baby on her marital counsellor's advice. warped, much?

crossed the road to magazine street after for the rolf benz 25th anniversary and met a bunch of interesting people. really like my hosts and i had fun catching up with friends i'd not seen in awhile, and getting to know new people. and when i got tired of wearing my party face, there were the most delicious sofas to flop down and veg out on as the jazz set went into overtime :) plus there was yummy german food and i think i had too many quiches. whoops! was one of the last to leave because my host had started to sing and he was so very effortless and i was kinda bopping along to the music and completely forgetting that i had somewhere else to be.

accidentally hailed a prestige taxi ($5???!!!! once my bum hits the seat???!) back home to pick up some booze because my mama taught me never to go empty handed and it was awayyy on my magic carpet to a moroccan-themed birthday party. aunty susie (formerly miss malaysia, don't play play...) had transformed the house into a moroccan riyadh with rugs of all shapes and sizes strewn over the floor. she'd beautiful silk cushions carpeting the floor, lanterns strung across the trees and with the stone elephant up front, kebabs and shisha going, it truly felt like something out of arabian nights. hung out with friends new and old. all the people i've not seen for a decade suddenly reappeared in krystal's morocco. bizarre, i know. was also very happy to meet a ton of people i should've met by now but hadn't, planned a phuket getaway with some girlfriends (yes, we will make it happen at the ratcha...) and am home and happy by 3am.

so i like my wednesdays tame, where you can actually indulge in pseudo-intellectual conversation and take in the surroundings. have two jam-packed days and it's off to shanghai come friday so woot woot to the weekend!
