you're very nice

"you're...automatic?"

not quite, but we're getting there.

dinner with C, my charming french corridormate. we'd collegiate special i.e. ham tortellini with the good pasta sauce (note: coop > lidl, hands down.) and banana splits for dessert. however, he's promised me a proper french meal for our next tete a tete and i might've promised an 'asian special' in return but i'm hoping he forgets. if not, there's always charred rice, my lone speciality. and oh my i just realised an 'asian special' sounds like something you'd find in bangkok. patpong, to be more precise. but i'm pretty sure he didn't pick that one up.

so we traded english for french over dinner. i learnt how to offer somebody dessert and how to adequately express my immense gratitude to my hosts when i go to paris next month. looking forward to being a house guest at a family friend's and am meant to be brushing up my (non-existent) grasp of the most beautiful language on earth. C, however, learnt how to pick up a girl in english. and how to tell his mates he'd the hots for someone, also in english. i therefore deny all responsibility if an aggressive swede beats him up after. as you might've guessed, we've very different priorities. but C's a great guy and cool corridor mate :) B joined us halfway and i'd two french tutors while they'd to share my limited expertise.

i could get used to these bicultural dinners. especially because i don't have to wash up. and i score ice cream :)

something that was lost in translation: this afternoon, C asked if i wanted to prepare a theme for dinner and i gave him a strange look and said no. after the 2X80s parties and swedish night in quick succession, i'd enough of themes. what's more, i was looking forward to a quiet night in where i could pad around in my pjs without judgment. turns out, C meant topic for dinner, like 'the beach' ou la plage. oops.
